Burda step by step

Today I saw a awesome magazine in the store. It's called Burda step by step. In the magazine they explain all basic information from A to Z. What do you need? How to read a description? All about fabrics and haberdashery? How to take your measurements? etc.
The lay-out of the magazine is beautiful. They explain everything clearly, so that you can become a seamstress

The magazine is a recommendation if you want to learn sewing. I live in Holland so i don't know if they sell it in every country,  but you can have a look.

Nominette

I ordered labels at the website www.nominette.com , you can design the labels yourself!
And the service is great! Within a few days the labels were already deliverd. It completes the selfmade clothes.

Shorts

I found the pattern of this shorts in the burda 2/2013.
I love, love, love the fabric of the shorts. It looks like leather but it's not, it's coated fabric, so it's very wearable.

This was the first time that I sewed a zipper in my clothes. It was very difficult, so I asked my mother for help. On youtube I found a movie were they  explain clearly how to sew a zipper in clothes. Check it out!

I've shortend the waist so it fits well. Thats the great thing of making your own clothes, you can totally customize it to your own size. At van Domburg Textiles I bought new spring fabrics! So I keep on sewing!

Dress with volant

After my Chanel look-a-like jacket, I have started to make a dress. The pattern is from Burda 2/2013 Model 128. In the burda they mentioned that the dress was easy to make. But in the beginning it was a little bit difficult because of the volant at the front and the wrinkled sleeves. Luckily I have a mother who can sew well and could help me with this.

Tomorrow I'm going to buy new fabrics  at van Domburg Textiel!

Be creative!

After 1 week behind the sewing machine my Chanel look-a-like jacket is finally finished! I love it! I made this jacket using a pattern from Burda 2/2013. A good pattern, because it worked out so well!

It’s really fun to make your own clothes, you can use your own creativity to make beautiful clothes. It looks very difficult to make but it's not that hard if you start with a simple pattern. If you’re doing this for the first time just like me, you can better ask someone with experience to help you out.
Let me know what you think about my first creation! My next project is a dress, I will keep you posted!
